Photography is my passion. It is an artform, a way of expressing one's inner self. From the family happy-snap to the fine art landscape print or a lucky wildlife moment, a good photograph tells a story. I unabashedly use Adobe Photoshop and other image editing software to enhance the quality of my images, because I can and it's there. A purist's take on today's digital images may differ from mine, but I believe the quality of the final image is the proof of the pudding. Most of the editing techniques I use are available to film photographers: dodging and burning; cropping; adjusting the exposure; levels and curves; enhancing washed-out colours. A relatively new technique is the use of HDR (High Dynamic Range), which helps to bring the dynamic range (shadows to highlights) in a photograph closer to the dynamic range of the human eye. It can make a beautiful landscape exquisite, a drab building interesting, and adds depth to a flat image. My main interests are landscapes and wildlife, with a flare for photographing hospitality venues - interiors as well as exteriors. I hope you enjoy looking at my work as much as I've enjoyed producing it.

about this site

Digital photography has taken off in a big way. There are now way more SLR cameras out there than ever before, in the hands of happy snappers as well as professionals. We now have the tools at our disposal to capture images in a meaningful way; and there is plenty of information out there to help. This is my small contribution to the art. It is a showcase of my work, some of which I've printed, some of which I've licensed to 3rd parties. I've also included some information on the cameras, lenses and other equipment I use, as well as some useful links for learning about photography.

tools of my trade

I use Canon cameras and lenses, because that's what I'm used to.

Canvas prints or photographic paper, they look better on a wall than on a screen.
